Partial Reopening of Forest
The Angeles National Forest, which includes the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, suffered extensive damage do the Eaton Fire. The Eaton fire burned a good section of the south facing slopes in the Altadena area all the way up to Mt. Wilson Observatory property.
Please stay out of the burned area to allow the area to recover and avoid injury.
Any activity on the national forest property is prohibited and violators may face a fine of up to $5,000 per individual and $10,000 for an organization.
The fire has removed all vegetation and has caused the ground to become unstable which could cause landslides, rock slides, trees to fall. With this instability and now rainfall flash floods are possible.
Please stay out of the burned area.

The Angeles National Forest is partially open and available for recreation purposes. The new Eaton Fire closure is in place from January 30 – December 31, 2025. The Bridge Fire closure remains active through December 31, 2025.
