Lions honor Search and Rescue Team

The Northwest Glendale Lions Club honored the outstanding contributions of the Montrose Search and Rescue Team at a well-attended dinner Feb. 13 at The Castaway in Burbank. Joining President Terry Dillon were past district governors Ross Adams, Ray Szada, Frank Leone and Frank Adams and representatives from a number of local clubs.

Accepting the Community Appreciation Award from Dillon was Capt. Jay Paneno, the chief of the team. Dillon also presented Capt. Paneno with a check for $250 to help with the team's expenses.

Also addressing the crowd was Mike Leum, former captain of the Montrose team and newly named chief of all eight Los Angeles County rescue teams.

The club meets at 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Oakmont Country Club, 3100 Country Club Drive. For more information, call Ross Adams at 243-4458.
